Three Things Thursday - Books I Love

TTT

I love to read, always have and probably always will. I remember telling my mom that I couldn't wait to go to school so I could learn how to read. Reading is the perfect way to get away from the 'real' world for a while and visit another place, another time, or just another type of life. While it's impossible for me to choose a favorite book, here are 3 that I have read more than once, and can honestly say I loved.

Who didn't love Judy Blume's books for kids and pre-teens? Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret, the Fudge Series,
Just As Long As We're Together... I read them all a dozen times as a kid. Summer Sisters was the first of Judy Blume's books for adults that I read, I was so glad that I picked it up. It's the story of 2 friends, and how their lives intertwine and change over the course of 6 summers spent in Martha's Vineyard and what happens in their lives after those summers.

Of all of the Nicholas Sparks books that have been turned into movies, I wish this one would be. Like most of his books, it's set in small town coastal North Carolina and is the love story of a widowed father and the woman he falls in love with. But as the title suggests, just as things start to go well, their relationship faces an obstacle that throws them both for a loop. It's a simple love story and without giving too much away, a happy ending. But don't we all need to read those once in a while?

One Child - Torey Hayden

I actually first read this book in high school after I stumbled across it doing research for a report I was writing. It's a true story of a special needs teacher (the author) and a little girl named Sheila, who is put in her class while awaiting an opening in a state hospital. It's an uplifting, and sometimes heartbreaking, story. There needs to be more Torey Hayden's in this world.

So, what's your favorite book?

I totally love Judy Blume. I read everything and then introduced my kids to the Fudge series. I love those books. So fun!
