Because I'm running short on time today (so much to do, so little time to actually get it done in!) and because Valentine's Day is next Sunday, I'm going to share with you my 3 favorite flowers. (This post is a not so subtle hint to my hubby as to what to get me. Now if I could only get him to read my blog!)
Sure, roses are pretty. And they smell good. But they are so overrated! And has anyone else ever noticed that the same dozen roses you can get for $15 any other time of the year jump to $50+ for the month of February? That's just craziness. I can think of plenty of things I'd spend $50 besides flowers that will die in a couple of days. Heck, do you know how many rose bushes I could by for $50? Then I could have roses whenever I wanted them. If I could keep anything alive for over a week. Which I can't. So I guess the rose bushes are out too.
Anyway. Here are 3 flowers I'd love to get instead of the astronomically priced roses:
There's nothing better than the first daffodils of the Spring.
The flowers for my wedding where hydrangeas and sunflowers. So pretty.
When I was about 7, I had a huge crush on one of our neighbors (who was 15, but I had it all figured out. When I was 21, he would only be 29 and that's not that big of an age difference. All I had to do was bide my time until then.) One day he came over to see my sister (he had more than a little crush on her. Darn her!) and brought me a handful of carnations from him mom's garden. (I'm sure he caught hell for that one if she found out about it!) I've loved carnations ever since.
(And for the record, this guy came to see my sister a few years ago after getting in touch with her online. In one word, yuck!)

My mom loves carnations too and they last forever and are cheap. Great flower to me too:)
