But I'm Not 30 Yet!

For this post to make sense, I need to give you a little background story. Shortly after my mom's 30th birthday, she was having some back pain. Eventually she went to the doctor and wound up seeing a young, just-out-of-medical-school I-know-everything doctor at the military hospital. He came into the room, looked at my mom's chart, glanced at my mom and says "Well, sometimes after you turn 30 your body just kind of falls apart," and walked out of the room. So her official diagnosis was old age. At 30. Since then it's been a long standing joke in our family anytime some is sick or hurt (not seriously of course) that 'Sometimes when you turn 30 your body just kind of falls apart.'

Last week, for no apparent reason, the top of my right foot started hurting. For the life of me I can not remember what, if anything, I did to it. It started out as a dull aching pain, and slowly became worse until I couldn't put any pressure on it at all. I finally sucked it up and went to the doctor. Have you ever tried to explaining to a doctor that you have no idea why your foot hurts, it just does? Yeah, they look at you like you're more than a little crazy.

So after an exam and x-rays, it appears there's nothing wrong with my foot. No broken bones, no swelling, no bruising. Just pain and the inability to walk on my right foot. The doctor's exact words to me were: "Well, sometimes things just hurt and there's not a real reason for them to." So basically, sometimes when you turn 30 your body just kind of falls apart, only said a little nicer.

Of course, my mom thought this was hilarious. Finally someone started falling apart before she did. I just think it's sad. If I'm falling apart now, what the heck am I going to be doing in 2 years when I do turn 30? After all a real medical doctor stated it as fact that when you turn 30 your body falls apart. I guess I'm in big trouble.

**I also have a post up today at Deep South Moms. I haven't mentioned my new 'gig' as a contributing blogger there yet because honestly I wasn't expecting my first post to go up that quickly. But it there and it's live so go check it out and let me know what you think!**
